Kathmandu Durbar Square: Durbar means palace. It is where kings were once crowned and ruled from. Kathmandu has its Durbar Square at its heart. The charm of the old town blends well with traditional architecture in a rich cultural backdrop. The entire square was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979. The massive complex consists of three main squares, home to palaces, temples and courtyards. South of Basantapur Square is a former Royal elephant stable, which today has souvenir stalls and leads to Freak Street (the lane still lives in the former glory of being the ultimate Hippie destination during the Flower Power era).

Swayambhunath Stupa: Find peace and prayers on the little hillock of Swayambhunath in the northwest of Kathmandu Valley. Visitors have called it "Monkey Temple" since the 1970s. Swayambhu overlooks most parts of the valley, giving visitors a panoramic view of the city. The stupa has stood as a hallmark of faith and harmony for centuries, with Hindu temples and deities incorporated into this Buddhist site. The glory of Kathmandu Valley is said to have started from this point. Resting on a hillock 3 km west of Kathmandu, Swayambhu is one of the holiest Buddhist stupas in Nepal. It is said to have evolved spontaneously when the valley was created out of a primordial lake more than 2,000 years ago. This stupa is the oldest of its kind in Nepal and has numerous shrines and monasteries on its premises.

Pashupatinath Temple: One of the most sacred Hindu temples in the world, this temple is amongst the five principal pilgrimage sites for Hindus. During the annual Shivaratri Festival, thousands of devotees of Lord Shiva from all Hindu communities pay their homage here. Pashupatinath is the reincarnation of Shiva in his most benevolent form as the shepherd of fertility, so there are no animal sacrifices in this temple, only fruits. Flowers and vermilion are offered. It lies on the banks of the Bagmati River. For Hindus, to be cremated at Pashupatinath means a direct passage to heaven. Overnight at hotel.

    Kathmandu

After breakfast, proceed for a full day sightseeing tour with your guide.
Visit Patan Durbar Square, Kirtipur Town and Boudhanath Stupa.

Patan Durbar Square: Patan Durbar Square is a UNESCO World Heritage Site located in the city of Lalitpur, just south of Kathmandu. The square is home to several ancient palaces, temples, and shrines that showcase the rich history and cultural heritage of Nepal. The square was once the seat of the Malla dynasty and served as the center of political and cultural life in the region. Visitors can explore the palace complex and its intricate wooden carvings, including the Taleju Temple, Bhimsen Temple, and the Krishna Temple. The square is also home to several museums and galleries that showcase the art and cultural heritage of Nepal. The square's traditional Newari architecture, intricate carvings, and rich cultural history make it a popular destination for visitors interested in exploring the country's heritage.

Kirtipur Town: The sleepy town of Kirtipur comes like a breath of fresh air amidst the dust-laden villages and cities. Thanks to the stunning ancient temples scattered along its backstreets and the authentic experience of Newari culture it offers, the town has gained popularity in recent decades. Today it stands as a symbol of the faded grandeur of a bygone era. Located just five kilometres southwest of Kathmandu, the town of Kirtipur is perched upon a rocky hill and is an excellent place to visit, especially for those stepping out of Kathmandu for a few hours.

Boudhanath Stupa: This is the largest Buddhist Stupa in the world, located just beyond the Pashupatinath Temple. It is built on a flat surface on various levels of terraces, painted in pastel colours and adorned with prayer flags. It is set in a Mandala design. Altogether 108 Buddha images and 147 insets of prayer wheels adorn the base of the huge circular edifice. The settlement of Boudhanath has the largest community of Tibetans, twelve thousand in all.
