   Amman, Madaba, Mount Nebo, Shobak, Petra

   After breakfast, drive out of the city to Madaba (38km / approx. 45 mins). Known as the 'City of Mosaics', Madaba is famous for its Byzantine-era mosaics, most notably the map of Jerusalem and the Holy Land on the floor of St George’s Church. Continue to Mount Nebo, a significant biblical site where Moses is believed to have first sighted the Holy Land. A small Byzantine church built here by early Christians has since expanded into a vast complex; Pope John Paul II held a sermon here in 2000 attended by over 20,000 people. Your final stop is Shoubak Castle (240km / approx. 3 hrs.). Built by Crusader King Baldwin I in AD 1115 to guard the road linking Syria and Egypt (the old King’s Highway), this imposing fort withstood numerous sieges until falling to Saladin's troops in 1189. Wander through the ruins and admire views across the barren landscape. After sightseeing, drive to Petra (30km / approx. 30 mins), arriving late afternoon. Overnight in Petra.

   Petra and Dead Sea

   This morning, enjoy a guided tour of Petra, one of the world's most famous archaeological sites and a UNESCO World Heritage Listed ancient city. Enter through the Siq, a long, winding narrow gorge flanked by soaring 80m high cliffs, leading to the breathtaking façade of The Treasury (Al-Khazneh). This iconic wonder was featured in the film ‘Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade’. Explore highlights such as the Roman Theatre, Street of Façades, and Royal Tombs. At your leisure, discover hidden passages, tombs, and palaces. You may wish to climb to the High Place of Sacrifice at the summit of the Attuf Ridge for spectacular views over Wadi Araba, or head to the Monastery, one of Petra's largest monuments with a façade measuring 47m wide and 49m high (please note this climb involves around 800 steps). This afternoon, transfer to your Dead Sea resort (200kms/approx. 3 hrs.). Overnight at a Dead Sea hotel.

   Amman and End of Trip

   After breakfast, transfer to Queen Alia International Airport. End of trip. Pick up: 3:30 hours before each flight time.
